An A La Carte Concept, Accommodations That Make Sense

We have finally arrived to my first accommodation review. When looking for a place to stay in Sarasota, I came across this interesting hotel concept that immediately caught my attention. They refer to themselves as a boutique hotel, an a la carte brand. A boutique hotel is a small, stylish hotel that focuses on personalized service. So, what is the name of this one-of-kind hotel? Kompose. The first Kompose Hotel opened it’s doors in Sarasota in 2020. They have since added locations in Kissimmee and Miami, Florida, as well as, Houston, Texas. In an effort to keep rates affordable and cater to your traveling preferences, Kompose allows you to customize your stay by choosing the amenities that you need and not charging you for the ones you don’t. The hotel design is modern chic with a few quirky surprises within an architectural concrete structure. You can book as small as a studio or as big as a family suite. The standard room experience features a premium mattress, a 55-inch TV, floor-to-ceiling windows, a separated toilet & rain-head shower, black-out curtains, and a mini fridge. For an additional cost, you can add-on access to amenities, such as the fitness center, sauna, or pool & jacuzzi. There are also separate charges for early check-ins, late checkouts, cleaning, in-room coffee, and the breakfast buffet. Using their premium Wi-Fi service, parking lot or bringing your furry friend along will also incur a separate fee. However, if you happen to book your stay directly with the hotel, they will include free breakfast, parking and Wi-Fi as part of your rate. Kompose also hosts an on-site restaurant, called K Bistro, that offers casual fare in the afternoon and evenings. For added convenience, there is a snack station in the hotel lobby if you are looking for a quick grab-and-go bite. For our stay, we booked a non-smoking King Bed room. The room was definitely modern with it’s unfinished concrete walls and open shelving. The floor-to-ceiling windows brought in more than sufficient lighting during the day and the black-out curtains provided the desirable privacy when needed. The platform bed was pleasantly comfortable. We have a premium mattress at home, so to be fair it had stiff competition in our minds. The pillows provided were fluffy and of various firmness levels. The bathroom setup was functional, but awkward. The shower and toilet was separated by a wall and shared a sliding frosted glass door, which makes privacy difficult if you are staying with someone other than a spouse or domestic partner. The bathroom sink was located on the opposite side of the shower next to the bed area. Again, awkward, but functional. The most important part of any stay in my opinion is to have a safe, clean and comfortable environment that functions. Kompose hits all of those marks and provides the means to customize your stay to the bare bones provisions or add as many personalized touches that you desire. This concept is genius. Quite frankly, I don’t know why it took so long for someone to implement this idea. So, if you are looking for a modern chic touch of luxury without paying for every bell and whistle a hotel or resort has to offer, staying at a Kompose Hotel might be a good fit for you. Just remember, you should be quite intimate with the person you are sharing a room with as there is limited privacy and modesty where the bathroom is concerned. As an added note, this Sarasota location was right next to the Sarasota Airport, but noise was not an issue, even with the occasional plane flying overhead. The hotel was quite peaceful and it was definitely a unique stay that we enjoyed. For more information, go to https://www.komposehotels.com/.
